About Our Director
Kalene Kapua’alaokaleipikake Tanaka Davis has been immersed in the world of Polynesian dance from a young age. Growing up in a halau, she was surrounded by the rich traditions of hula and ‘Ori Tahiti, training under the direction of her mother, Moe Tanaka, who learned from the late Roiti Sylvia and the late Kumu Hula Aloha Dalire.
As soon as Kalene heard the beat of the drums, she fell in love with ‘Ori Tahiti, and that passion has only grown over the years. Having earned multiple awards in ‘Ori Tahiti competitions across the United States, she brings a deep knowledge and love for the culture. While she’s had her share of success on stage, her true joy lies in teaching and sharing the beauty of Tahitian dance with others.
Kalene’s teaching is rooted in tradition, care, and the joy that comes with movement, creating an environment where every dancer feels welcome and inspired.
